| Tetris really is a very simple game to play – no really it is. But it is also enough to pull your hair out. It seems that there are about 5 keys that the average person needs to know in order to play the game. So sweet, so simple that it easily attracts players of all ages. They you begin to go cross-eyed. The very simple object of the game of tetris is to keep those dumb blocks from piling up to the top of the playing field. You can move and rotate the blocks as they fall and if you can complete a line across the square, it disappears and you have more room at the top. Oh and did I mention you get points? Complexity begins to creep into the game – way more than you thought was possible with such a simple game. No controls to speak of, just move the boxes into their proper place. But there are no controls and the boxes are different shapes and sizes. Then there are the obstacles and those boxes change speed – you can’t keep up and you explode only to start the next game because it can be such a challenge. And you have to beat the other members of your family or group of friends who are all waiting their turn at the game of Tetris. You can play the game almost anywhere and you don’t even need a game console to play. Have a coffee break, go online and play the game. Waiting for the bus, there is a version for your mobile phone. And the games are getting better and flashier with great graphics – as much as square blocks can have great graphics. Tetris has been around for over 20 years, a very simple but at times a frustratingly complex game. It is the granddaddy to many of the current games.
